Videographer in Morocco: the questions I get asked most (and my answers)

In short: here are the questions that come up most before starting a video project in Morocco — timelines, budget, rights, drone, formats, revisions. The answers are direct and jargon-free, whether you're a company in Casablanca, a developer in Rabat or a foreign production shooting in Tangier.

Before you start

How long does it take to produce a corporate video in Morocco?

Allow two to four weeks between the first conversation and delivery for a simple project: a few days of preparation, one shooting day, then the edit. Projects with several locations, authorisations to obtain or motion design take longer. The factor that stretches timelines most is almost never the shoot — it's approval rounds.

One practical tip: set the publication date before setting the shooting date. You then work the calendar backwards, and the deadlines become realistic.

Do I need a script before shooting?

Not always a full script, but always a written intention. Knowing who the video is for, what it must make clear and where it will be published is enough to frame a shoot. Without that, you come back with beautiful footage that says nothing specific.

For an institutional or advertising film, a detailed script saves time and money: it stops you shooting sequences nobody will use.

Should I shoot horizontal or vertical?

That gets decided before the shoot, not in the edit. A video destined for Instagram or TikTok must be framed vertically from the start; a film cropped afterwards loses impact. If both formats are expected, that's planned into the shot breakdown.

It's one of the clearest lessons from my social campaigns: on the projects that passed 250,000, then 935,000, then 4.1 million views, vertical was a shooting decision. The detail is told in the Oqba Mall case study.

Budget and quotes

What budget should I plan for a video in Morocco?

There's no off-the-shelf rate: the budget depends on shooting days, crew size, equipment, travel and post-production. Two two-minute videos can carry very different budgets depending on what has to be shot to obtain them. Every project gets a quote after a short conversation about the objective.

The five pricing factors are detailed in how much a corporate video costs in Morocco.

Why can two quotes differ by a factor of three?

Almost always because they don't contain the same thing. A quote that stops at raw footage and a quote that includes writing, shooting, editing, grading and mixing aren't comparable, even for a video of the same length.

Before comparing two figures, check: number of shooting days, crew size, number of versions delivered, number of feedback rounds included, and usage rights.

How many revisions are included in an edit?

The number of rounds must be written into the quote — it's the point that derails the most projects. Two rounds of grouped feedback are usually enough, provided they're consolidated: one round carrying every stakeholder's input beats six successive, contradictory ones.

On the shoot

Can you fly a drone anywhere in Morocco?

No. Drone use is regulated, and some areas — airport surroundings, official or military sites, certain dense urban spaces, gatherings — demand particular caution or are off-limits. A professional flight rests on authorisations obtained in advance and coordination with whoever runs the location.

The full framework is explained in drone filming in Morocco: what a brand should know, and the budget logic in drone filming cost in Morocco.

Do you work in English and Arabic?

Yes. Projects run in English, French or Arabic, from preparation through to delivery. It's a frequent need for foreign productions shooting in Morocco and for international groups based in the country.

The local-relay role for a foreign crew is described in videographer in Tangier: your local crew for international productions.

Do you work across all of Morocco?

Yes — Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir and beyond. The only thing to anticipate is logistics: a shoot clustered in one city costs considerably less than one scattered across several regions in the same week. When several sites are needed, we plan the route rather than multiplying return trips.

Should the locations be prepared before the shoot?

Yes, and it's the most effective free lever there is. A tidy office, a clear workshop, a decluttered home film faster and look far better. An hour of internal preparation gains more than any negotiation on the quote.

Can photo and video be done on the same day?

Yes, and it's almost always better value: one trip, one setup, one mobilisation of your team, and complete visual consistency between stills and moving images. The limit appears when both must be captured at the same instant, typically at a live event. The subject is covered in one provider or two?.

After delivery

Who owns the footage once the project is delivered?

This belongs in the quote and should never stay implicit. Specify the channels (website, social media, advertising, press, internal), the territories and the duration of use. A video destined for a paid campaign doesn't carry the same usage framework as an internal film.

Do you deliver the raw footage?

It's possible, and it needs planning in advance because it changes the volume of data to process and transfer. Many clients have no use for it: what genuinely serves them are the edited versions, plus the format variants planned from the start.

How many versions should I plan for?

The useful reflex is to list the distribution channels before the shoot: a long format for the website, a short one for LinkedIn, a vertical for Instagram and TikTok, possibly a subtitled version and a text-free version for international use. Planning them up front costs little; adding them afterwards costs a new edit.

How do I measure whether a video worked?

Not by view count alone. For a shop or a venue, what matters is local reach: views in your own city are worth far more than a distant audience. For a corporate film, the indicator is usually completion rate and inbound enquiries, not the raw counter. That reasoning is developed in the Oqba Mall case study.

A question that isn't here?

Since 2017, more than 100 photo and video projects delivered in Morocco — brand films, corporate, real estate, events, social content — with campaigns reaching up to 4.1 million views.

If your question isn't on this list, ask it directly: the answer usually takes less time than a search. You can also explore the videographer in Morocco, photographer in Morocco and video production offers, or read more about my background.
